Free Clinics for Sacred Organ Music

Church organists and those who enjoy listening to sacred organ music are invited to free clinics on Sat. Nov. 14th 2-4 p.m. in Piqua, Ohio.

Composer Janet Linker will present ideas on organ registrations and easy repertoire at St. John's Lutheran Church beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Organist James Hildreth will be presenting more advanced repertoire at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church, also at 2:00 p.m.

Both groups will meet at St. Paul's for a break followed by Janet Linker presenting some of her more advanced compositions.

Janet Linker has published works for organ and choir and over sixty works for organ and handbells with a dozen church music publishing houses. She did her Master's study at the University of Michigan under Marilyn Mason. She taught at Capital University and is organist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Upper Arlington, Ohio.

James Hildreth was a featured performer on the national radio program, Pipedreams, and writes reviews of compact disc recordings for The American Organist magazine. His degrees are from CCM at the University of Cincinnati and Southern Methodist University. He has also taught at Capital University and is organist of the Broad Street Presbyterian Church in Columbus.

Prior to the workshops, a noon lunch will be available at Toone P Wiggins restaurant in the historic renovated Fort Piqua Plaza Hotel with a guided tour of the building at 1:00 p.m. Reservations are needed for either or both of these events. Directions from Richmond to the clinic churches:
I-70 east to north on I-75 to exit west on Rt. 36 to Piqua (also named Ash Street in town.)
Do NOT follow Rt. 36 signs after leaving I-75.
Cross Main and Wayne streets. Both churches are on the next street which is Downing.
For St. John's Lutheran, turn left and go three blocks. The church is on the corner of Downing and Wood.
For St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed, turn right and go two blocks. The church is on the corner of Downing and Greene.
